The Smoothie Diet
1 heaping tablespoon protein powder
with a P.E.R. (Protein Efficiency
Ratio) of at least 2.5
1 raw egg - make sure the shell is
not cracked to avoid salmonella, and to be double sure put it in water that is
already boiling - for 60 seconds - enough to kill any salmonella, but not
enough to cook the egg.
1 four ounce glass of fruit
juice
1 four ounce glass of fruit that
goes well with the juice you have chosen
The choice of juice and fruit most liked
by most people is cranberry juice and unsweetened strawberries. This
combination totally covers the taste of the raw egg and the protein powder and
is really a delicious drink.
For those who are worried about the
cholesterol in the raw egg, the high amount of lecithin in the raw egg
neutralizes most of this effect. If you still want to avoid the raw egg for
cholesterol reasons leave out the egg.

For people on a diet or those who have a
difficult time having breakfast this drink serves very well for one meal a day.
It has the protein, fat, and carbohydrates you need for healthy, balanced input
to start the day out right, though a good supplement is recommended to go along
with it.
For those on a weight loss program the
smoothie may be consumed twice a day along with one good balanced meal
consisting of not more than 6 ounces of meat and three fresh vegetables (not
frozen or canned), and 2 slices of whole grain bread. In addition to this,
supplements should definitely be taken to make sure that adequate nutritional
intake is maintained on this low calorie program. The supplements that should
be included are:
Multi-Vitamins +
Minerals
B Complex - 3 to 5 times RDA
Lecithin - 2 to 4 capsules of
enhanced lecithin product
EPA/GLA - 2 to 4 capsules per day |
